Mission: Achieved
Article by Jon Westall Monday, 27th April 2009
It's been a topsy-turvy time during the season, with the aim of retaining the Blues' Premier Division status achieved.

At the start of the season when I took charge, I had one aim: To avoid relegation!

That was confirmed yesterday against Formby, but really, I knew after the Easter results that we were safe.

I cannot fault the guys committment of late, We received a tremendous response after words were spoken at Glossop.

And they really do deserve the praise.

We are now in unfamiliar territory after collecting over 40 points and hopefully we can go on and finish the season unbeaten.

Another massive plus for the club has been the Player of the Month awards we have won throughout the season - FOUR of them!

So there's an extra special well done to Lee, Chris, Adam & Luke.

I wanted to build a side that had a blend of experienced guys with youth.

And, after using 67 lads this season, the current squad are probably the best I've had all campaign.

Its now crucial that we build on what we have in order to progress at this level, its pointless putting all this work in, only to take 2 steps back!

We need investment, its that simple.

So we will see what happens in the summer.

For now, can I thank everyone connected with the club for their support this season, from the Chairman right down to the last man and his dog who came through the turnstile this season.

And a special mention for my wonderful, patient wife Denise, for without her support I dont know where I'd of been.

See you soon

Jon
